Day 4 - 1 Dress, 100 Days

You might wonder if I'm just continuing to wear a dress that's getting dirtier by the day! One of the reasons for doing the challenge is to wear a woolen fabric that requires less washing, drying, dry cleaning -- and therefore, has a lower carbon footprint. On the other hand, its' very easy for me to hand-wash the dress, and leave it on a hanger to dry for an hour, and bingo -- it's ready to go again!

Still we tend to wash our clothes too frequently -- especially those that are made of natural fabrics. My clients at the Hong Kong Connection often ask how often they should dry clean their suits, and I remind them that frequent cleaning will degrade and deteriorate the fabric. Unless the suit is dirty, or they have perspired heavily, the suit should be hung to 'breathe' and given some rest between wearings.

Since my 'one' dress doesn't get a rest for several days between wearings, I will wash it more frequently than I will take my suits to the cleaners. In this challenge, I'm focusing on the simplicity of the experiment -- simplicity in decision-making, storage, and laundering -- but you needn't worry -- I'm not going out of the house with dirty clothes!

Life is rich with texture and beauty. Even the parts that seem unwanted hold within them seeds of grace.

In this blog, you will find all sorts of snippets and vignettes about life - sometimes whimsical, or poetic, or reflective, or my own experiments with life. Perhaps, you will find yourself somewhere in my random musings.

I will write as if I were writing in my personal journal.  Where things touch your soul or might be helpful to someone you know, please share this blog with them.
